With a billion web sites on the World Wide Web, which spells:
facing a huge competition, thorough preparation is necessary
to make your web site a success.
When surfing the web we can visit the pages of the well known
corporates everybody knows by name through simply typing their
name into Google's search. Google then will present their
web sites mostly on the first search result page. When we
enter search terms that only relate to their products the
appearance of these brands is very often drastically reduced.
So, if you do not belong to the category of great brand names
but depend on being found by the search terms your target
group probably uses when conducting their searches, your position
is much more difficult.
Let's suppose you have done your home work and you have followed
up the advice of the internet consultant before you started
the web project. All necessary is completed: The web site
consists of pristine clean code, it has a clear navigational
structure and even the site's concept is based on a target
group research, but fact is: "who knows that you have
worked until you nearly dropped and that you went out of your
way to gather all that interesting material that is now online"?
Marketing a site, keeping up the ranking in MSN, Google and
Yahoo and all those other Search Engines that are used mostly
locally, is only one facet of web site marketing but there
is so much more involved.
